The 2035 Comprehensive Plan for Easton was developed by MUD Workshop and was adopted in 2017. The plan builds on the initiatives of Eastonians to revive their City from years of industrial decline and subsequent sprawl, and proposes a planning and urban design framework to define Easton’s identity as its region’s cultural and economic hub.  The framework is a shared vision that embodies people’s aspirations established through direct feedback in 40 meetings, four design and planning charrettes, several presentations, focus groups and interviews, and implementation workshops with agencies.

Three broad themes; TRANSFORM > UNIFY > THRIVE blend a strong emphasis on preservation of Easton’s historic assets and traditional urban form with the clear acknowledgement of modern usage patterns. They call for environmentally sound growth that enhances Easton’s distinctive character as a river town. Most importantly, the plan sets a vision for a consistent, integrated Easton composed of four complete, unique neighborhoods; Downtown, West Ward, South Side, and College Hill.

The plan was awarded the 2017 Annual LVPC award for Comprehensive Plan and also received certificates of special recognition for invaluable services to the community from the offices of Congressman Matt Cartwright and Senators Patrick M. Browne, Lisa Boscola and Mario Scavello.
