Envision Mount Kisco 2030

Envision Mount Kisco translates community priorities into a coordinated plan for housing, land use, and downtown investment. The process produced public-realm strategies, zoning updates, and identified redevelopment sites that reflect how residents want the village to grow.

Mount Kisco launched Envision Mount Kisco to replace its 2000 Comprehensive Plan and respond to development pressures and opportunities in the 21st century. The Village desired to build transit-oriented development around its downtown and Metro-North station and ease pressure on its housing market but lacked a coherent framework to coordinate growth. The planning process addressed housing, mobility, infrastructure, and economic development, while focusing on key opportunity sites like the Moger Lots. From the start, the Village encouraged a community-driven approach to identify policies that reflected the concerns and priorities of residents and downtown business owners.

Community Pop Up Event

As part of the BFJ Planning team, MUD Workshop led a hybrid public engagement process that paired in-person events with digital tools to reach a broad cross-section of the Village. We designed the project website, developed branding and messaging, and created interactive materials for workshops, stakeholder focus groups, and pop-up events. Input from over 350 residents shaped major recommendations around land use, housing typologies, public space, and connectivity. The engagement process directly informed the creation of a new Form-Based Code Overlay for the downtown and station area, translating community priorities into a clear regulatory framework. The final plan was adopted in 2018.
